About

The journal Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai, Geographia is the oldest and most representative publication that brings together the most relevant scientific works of Cluj geographers for more than half a century. The journal appeared for the first time in 1957 and have included works in the fields of Geology and Geography for a long time throughout its history, a fact reflected in its previous name: Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai, Geologia-Geographia. In the context of the social and political changes in Romania at the end of 1989, the scientific journals of Babeş-Bolyai University entered a new stage which allowed, among others, the separation of Geography and Geology in Geographia and Geologia series in 1990. Since then, Studia UBB, Geografia is published biannually in two distinctive issues which fully respect the conditions of stability and set, as much as possible, ever higher standards in terms of scientific contents and technical norms. As a consequence, the journal made an important progress regarding its national and international visibility. Because of this, now the journal is classified B+ in the rankings of the Romanian National Research Council and is indexed in internationally representative journal databases like GEOREF, EBSCO, IndexCopernicus, Central&Eastern European Academic Source, ProQuest (Ulrich’s Web), Scipio.

Since 2009, the journal is published fully in English and at present the standard procedures are followed for the journal to access and to be indexed by the ISI Web of Knowledge. The subject area covers the whole range of geographical issues. Recent statistics show that studies regarding Population and Settlements,Geomorphology, Hydrology, Theoretical Geography, Industry and Agriculture, Regional Geography, Meteorology-Climatology and Cartography have the highest weight in the journal.
