FOCUS POINTS FOR A SUSTAINABLE MOBILITY IN CLUJ- NAPOCA METROPOLITAN AREA

ABSTRACT. – Focus Points for a Sustainable Mobility in Cluj-Napoca Metropolitan Area. From the perspective of sustainable development, transport issues represent one of the greatest challenges to metropolitan areas. This article focuses on two major directions: the first refers to a functional and environmental assessment of the current transport system in the Cluj-Napoca metropolitan area, while the second one points out several key elements to support the metropolitan area administration in developing a mobility strategy in order to ensure a systemic functioning of its territory. Furthermore, the highlighted issues are sustained by examples of good practice in some European cities that have already developed mobility strategies that contributed to improved quality of life.
